Five core values

Five core values underpin everything we do in our work, our daily lives and in our community

Discovery

We believe in the power of scientific insight to help people live longer, healthier lives.

Integrity

Great science depends on great data.  We strive to deliver reliable, reproducible, and stable results.

Animal Welfare

We deliver vastly better data with fewer animals in a more humane way.

Inventiveness

Innovation is the only path to develop better medicines faster.  We push the boundaries every day.

Transparency

We are open and accountable in all we do.  It is the best way to advance human health.

More Data. Fewer Animals.

Vium's platform provides a new standard of compassionate animal care by drawing more data from far fewer subjects, while increasing quality control to reduce the need for repeat experiments. Our technology also allows us to get more information from rodent studies, making studies in higher species less necessary. Additionally, the platform’s software sensors and monitoring capabilities allow for earlier detection of distress so interventions can be made much sooner.

Vium is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC International), and we are the proud recipients of a Letter of Commendation from AAALAC’s Council on Accreditation, including an unprecedented commendation for upholding the 3R's of Russell and Burch. It reads, in part:

“The Council commends you and the staff for providing and maintaining an  excellent program…Especially noteworthy were the strong institutional commitment, evidenced in part by the promotion of the Three Rs and the well maintained facility; the clearly written Program Description; the well written and comprehensive Operating Guidelines; the excellent overall health of the animals; the committed and knowledgeable staff; and the engaged and experienced Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), including the nonaffiliated member’s participation.

“Council has no further recommendations to offer for improvement of the animal care and use program at this time.”
